Who we are

Pedro S. & Maribel U.

We are a duo based in Almería. Having lived through different phases —and places— and been part of many different kinds of music groups (from Handel, Tomás Luis de Victoria and gospel choirs, to the Mediterranean and Andalusi fusion group Civilización Cero in Totana/Alhama/Murcia, to our own bagpipe-and-percussion band Cantiga 169, named after the Virgen de la Arrixaca of Murcia, or the folk group A Santa Compaña, also in Murcia), we now survive musically while waiting for better times.

Folk music made of cantigas, muiñeiras, Irish jigs, blind minstrels' songs and Andalusi sounds, played on hurdy-gurdy, bagpipe and flutes and a variety of percussion: pandeiro, bodhrán, pandeireta and tarrañolas, stitched together by electronic loops that weave our newest musical outlook.

«We are what we are because we are — or have been — nomads, we follow traces, we look for patterns.»
